Organ donor register launched

Moves to establish a voluntary organ donor register are getting a measure of support from National.

Givelife New Zealand has today launched a voluntary organ donor register, in a bid to address poor organ donor rates. National MP Jackie Blue is personally endorsing the approach, but has stopped short of saying it is something her party would adopt as policy.

She says the recently passed Human Tissues Bill does give scope for an organ register to be re-addressed, but National would only do that depending on what happens with organ donor rates.
